Genesis records the institution of marriage by God at the time of creation, and Paul the Apostle in the New Testament compares this union of a man with his wife, to the union of Christ with His Church, when he says in the Ephesians:
” For this cause a man shall leave his mother and father and shall cleave to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great, but I am speaking in reference to Christ and the Church”
So therefore because of the great significance God attribute to marriage, it should not be entered into lightly or carelessly, but reverently, discreetly, soberly and in the fear of God.
